Maida Cake

An another Diwali sweet which gets ready in less time is maida cake, actually i dont like this maida cake when i was kid, coz of my mom makes these cake often for Diwali. Later she stopped making this cake and changed her Diwali savouries and sweets. Finally this maida cake disappeared from her Diwali menu.Last week, i was craving for some maida cake suddenly and prepared this quick sweet. This Indian sweet go for simple ingredients like all purpose flour or maida, sugar,ghee. If you want to make them with flavours like chocolate,pista or almond,just add few teaspoons of chocolate powder or crushed nuts.

1/2cup All purpose flour/Maida
1cup Sugar
1/4cup Ghee
Few saffron strands
Nuts (optional)

Take the flour and half of the ghee in a pan,cook in simmer until a nice aroma comes from.

Meanwhile make a sugar syrup with sugar and 2 tablespoon of water, bring it boil with saffron strands and the sugar consistency should be a single string.

Add the sugar syrup to the roasted maida and add the remaining ghee,cook until the mixture gets off from the vessel.

Pour this mixture in a greased plate.

Level the warm mixture, sprinkle the nuts immediately on the top,give a press.

Let them cool completely and slice it as you desire.
